Winner of Copyright Infinity Award
Latvian Authors' Society AKKA/LAA has announced the winners of the "Copyright Infinity Award 2020", the representative of AKKA / LAA Ieva Kolmane informed the LETA News Agency. Painter Ritums Ivanovs was awarded the prize for the publication of “Portrait of art collector Jānis Zuzāns”, “Portrait of tennis player Novak Djokovic” and the painting “After Vermeer” in press and in the art catalogue of Latvian National Museum of Art (LNMM); for the publication of the “Portrait of the President of the People's Council, the President of the Constitutional Assembly, the President of Latvia Jānis Čakste” in the LNMM art catalogue and reproduction in publications issued by the Saeima (Parliament) of the Republic of Latvia; for publishing works on television, online and for the retransmission of works in France and Germany, including resale in Sweden.
The Winner of the award is also writer and playwright Rasa Bugavičute-Pēce. Writer and playwright Māris Bērziņš got it for the collection "Gutenmorgen", which is used for a long time and widely in various ways, the original texts being supplemented with new stories about Gutenmorgen. Writer and playwright Lelde Stumbre was awarded the prize in honor of the laureate for the play "Charming Swindlers", and the artist Ritums Ivanovs for the publication of "Portrait of Jānis Zuzāns", "Portrait of Novak Djokovic" and the painting "After Vermeer" in the press and other works of art works.
Photographer Agnese Zeltiņa was awarded the prize for photographs from opera productions "Macbeth", "Walled", "Carmen", "Tanheizer", "Turaida Rose", "Chronicle of Distortion", "Faust" and "The Wandering Dutchman". Composer Kārlis Auzāns has won the Copyright Infinity Award for music for the documentary "Sunbeams". The award was also won by music and lyricist Guntars Račs and arranger Gints Stankevičs for the title song "Listen All", the group "Brainstorm" - for the song "Flashlight", and composer Rihards Dubra - for the composition "O Crux Ave". Choreographer Taiga Ludborža and composer Juris Kulakovs won the prize for the dance "I, a girl like a rose", which was shown on television and widely used in concerts throughout Latvia.
Since 1999, AKKA / LAA has been gathering information on the most widely used works in the previous year, for which authors have been charged. The "Copyright Infinity Prize" serves as a reminder of the ways in which a work put into the world can go, even if the author did not initially imagine it.
AKKA/LAA brings together diverse authors who collectively implement the management of their economic rights, creating effective cooperation between authors and the users of their works in order to give users a convenient way to legal use of copyrighted works and simplify the authors’ receipt of royalties. The society is a non-governmental organization. Its operation is managed by the Council elected by the authors themselves.

The society is working according the Law on the Collective Management of Copyright. AKKA/LAA is a multi-repertory rights management organization representing musical, literary, dramatic, visual and audiovisual repertoires. More than 6 500 authors in Latvia are represented. AKKA/LAA is a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) and the European Grouping of Societies of Authors and Composers (GESAC). AKKA/LAA represents the interests of foreign authors on the basis of reciprocal representation agreements that have been concluded with more than 130 foreign organizations for the protection of copyrights.
