New portraits at Mežotne Manor

In July 2021, Ritums Ivanovs spent a week at the Small Mežotne Manor at the annual painter's workshop. For the 10th anniversary of the Pēteris Vasks Foundation, dedicated to renown Latvian composer, two new portrait paintings by Ivanovs can now be seen at the manor, depicting Latvian composer Mr. Pēteris Vasks, as well as the artist, businessman and hostess of Mežotne, Mrs. Regīna Deičmane. Painters Vija and Kaspars Zariņi and Atis Jakobsons also took part in the master class. Its culmination took place with a concert on July 31 of the piano quartet «RIX»: pianist Jānis Maeckis, violinist Sandis Šteinbergs, violinist Ilze Kļava and cellist Reinis Birznieks.

The idea of founding the Pēteris Vasks Foundation belongs to composer Pēteris Vasks, who on his 65th birthday came up with an initiative to create a fundraiser to support Latvian music. Later, a group of like-minded people, including entrepreneur Regīna Deičmane, musician and actress Dita Krenberga, as well as composer Pēteris Vasks, was formed, and the Foundation was established.
