Huntenkunst Netherlands
In May, Ritums Ivanovs is attending the annual festival of contemporary visual arts of Huntenkunst in the Netherlands, an international event of art manifestation intended for professionally working artists and gallery owners. 250 artists from the Netherlands and abroad present their work at the 31st Huntenkunst that will take place from 23 to 25 May in the SSP hall in Ulft, where the old industrial factory buildings of an iron foundry have been given a new unique purpose. This year, the focus is on artists from Latvia and the selection was made by an international selection committee. Nine artists from Latvia (Aija Bāliņa, Aija Bley, Inga Erdmane, Ritums Ivanovs, Viola Karule, Pēteris Līdaka, Olga Šilova, Sandra Strēle and Andrejs Strokins) will show their work in a joint pavilion, exhibiting photos, paintings and sculptures.
The venue for the SSP hall is a former production hall (5500 m2), where the renowned DRU pan was once manufactured. The first inaugural Huntenkunst art event took place in 1993 and since then, the event has evolved into a significant annual festival of contemporary visual arts, taking place in May. The festival aims to provide a platform for artists from around the world and opportunities to network. Its international character of the fair is reflected in the fact that 30 countries are represented.
